Transforming Men. Restoring Families. Rebuilding Communities.

Vessels of Mercy Outreach Ministry (VOMOM) is a Christ-centered organization committed to the restoration of men through discipleship, accountability, and the transformative power of God's Word.

We accompany men on their journey from incarceration to successful reintegration, supporting them in rebuilding their lives, families, and futures with dignity and intentionality.

We believe that when a man encounters Jesus, discovers his kingdom identity, and receives the right support, he becomes a vessel of mercy โ€” capable of changing his family, his community, and the next generation.

Who We Serve

Men who are currently incarcerated, recently released, or transitioning through faith-based structured supportive housing โ€” men who desire restoration, accountability, spiritual growth, and a path toward rebuilding their lives, families, and communities.

Why It Matters

When a man discovers his identity in Christ, everything changes โ€” his life, his family, his community, and generations after him. Thousands of men across North Carolina are seeking hope, discipleship, and a path to successful reentry. The harvest is ready.

Long-Term Goal

VOMOM is committed to establishing structured housing facilities across North Carolina, ensuring men receive continuous support from incarceration to full reintegration โ€” until every prison in NC becomes a place of revival, restoration, and generational change.

Vision & Mission

Our Vision

To see kingdom-minded men rise from incarceration and re-enter society transformed, empowered, and equipped to reach back and disciple others โ€” until every prison in North Carolina becomes a place of revival, restoration, and generational change.

Our Mission

To disciple incarcerated men, equip them with spiritual and practical tools for re-entry, and mobilize formerly incarcerated men to return as mentors, sponsors, and leaders. Through in-prison programs, structured housing, and community partnerships, we guide men into a Christ-centered life of purpose, accountability, and service.

A Ministry Born Behind Bars

Vessels of Mercy Outreach Ministry was not born in a boardroom or a church office โ€” it was born in a prison cell. This ministry was given to and started by David Vanstory while he was serving his third prison sentence. In the midst of incarceration, God placed a vision in David's heart to reach, teach, and equip the men around him โ€” men the world had written off, but whom God had not forgotten.

What began as one man surrendering his life to Christ behind prison walls has grown into a ministry that walks alongside incarcerated and formerly incarcerated men across North Carolina. Today, VOMOM is based in Greensboro, NC, and our vision extends far beyond one city. We are actively working toward placing ambassadors inside prisons across the entire state of North Carolina โ€” so that no man, in any facility, is without hope, discipleship, and a path to restoration.

"One man at a time. One family at a time. One community at a time. Together, we can transform North Carolina."

A Note on Our Structured Housing

The home featured in this video represents a meaningful season in our ministry's history โ€” a place where men found stability, accountability, and hope as they transitioned back into society. That home was originally lost when the city reclaimed the land for public infrastructure development.

In pursuit of greater impact, Vessels of Mercy entered into a partnership with another nonprofit organization. After careful discernment, and due to concerns about organizational alignment and ethical direction, we made the difficult but necessary decision to separate from that partnership. As a result, we were unable to retain the housing associated with that organization.

We want to be transparent with our community: we are currently without a structured housing facility, but we are actively and diligently working to secure a new home. This remains one of our highest priorities โ€” because we know that stable, Christ-centered housing is a cornerstone of successful reentry. We believe God is faithful, and we trust that the right door will open at the right time. We are grateful for your continued prayers and partnership as we move forward.
